NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND INSPECTION PROPOSED BUDGET | LOMPOC UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

The proposed 2025-2026 budget for the Lompoc Unified School District (LUSD) will be available for public inspection at the LUSD Education Center, Reception Desk, 1301 North A Street, Lompoc, CA 93436, on June 6, 2025, during regular working hours.

The public hearing on said budget will be held on June 10, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the LUSD Education Center Board Room, 1301 North A Street, Lompoc.

The budget adoption meeting will be held on June 24, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the LUSD Education Center Board Room.

School Committees

Parents and the community are very supportive of the educational program at Los Berros VAPA Academy. Parents are encouraged to participate on advisory councils such as the School Site Council (SSC) and English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC). Parents are always welcome to attend school events including assemblies, back-to-school night, open house, drama and dance productions, and promotions. Many programs and activities are enriched by the generous contributions made by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and many local businesses. Parents who wish to become volunteers or participate in Los Berros VAPA Academy leadership teams, school committees, and school activities may contact us at (805) 742-2350.

School Site Council (SSC)

In California, a School Site Council (SSC) is a legally required decision-making body at each school receiving federal funds, primarily focusing on developing and monitoring the school’s improvement plan. SSC is composed of teachers, parents, and other school staff members, with equal representation between staff and parent/community/student representatives. The SSC plays a key role in identifying student needs, reviewing student achievement data, and developing the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).   

Each fall, parents are elected to School Site Council.

English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC)

In California, any school with 21 or more English learners must form an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is a group of parents, staff, and community members who advise the principal and school staff on programs and services for English Learners. ELAC helps review the school’s language development programs, student progress, and supports parent involvement. The committee plays a key role in ensuring English Learner needs are reflected in the school’s planning and decision-making.
